Black Dog Baking Company is composed of husband and wife team “Baker” Dave and Eve Smith of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Dave and Eve both got their start at a local small bakery in Hudson, Ohio. There, Eve began learning the trade from her mom and cookie creator, Cam, in 2005. Dave joined the crew in 2009, and shortly thereafter became a master of all things bread and pizza. Together they worked and supplied wonderful products to the people of Hudson until 2018 when the bakery sold. Eve continued to create beautiful cookie creations with her mom under the company name Sugared. Dave moved on to create a pizza kitchen at brewery and local favorite, HiHO Brewing Company, located in the heart of Cuyahoga Falls.

In January 2023, Eve was diagnosed with breast cancer. With Dave by her side she underwent treatment, and in February 2024 rang the bell, and was declared cancer free. During that time, in May 2023, after a long battle with lung cancer, Sugared lost one of it’s founding members, Cam. Eve felt the best way to continue her mom's legacy was to resume making confectionery creations in her honor.

Fueled with the determination to follow their dreams, a new appreciation for life, and with almost 30 years combined experience in the baking industry, Dave and Eve decided there’s no time like the present to share their love for baking with their friends and neighbors in Cuyahoga Falls. Named after their most loyal companion, Lady, and her little pal Max, Black Dog Baking Company was born.
